This is a sweet rice pudding that originated 2000 years ago in the Eastern Indian state of Odisha. This dish is called kheer or payasam. It's usually made with milk, sugar and vermicelli. However, I made a slightly different type of payasam/kheer today. This is Chocolate Kheer/payasam. I also added sago, almonds, cardamom, cashew and raisins. This dish may be sweet but you can enjoy it occasionally as it contains nuts and cardamom, which are highly nutritious.

Ingredients: vermicelli, sago, almonds, cashew, raisins, cardamom, cocoa powder, milk, and butter.

Method:
  1. Pour 500ml of water into a pot and boil it.
  2. Add sago after the water is slightly boiled.
  3. Put 4 cubes of butter in a pan and cook the almonds, dry vermicelli sticks, cashew, raisins and cardamom.
  4. In a cup, add the cocoa powder and make a chocolate drink (200ml).
  5. Pour the chocolate drink into the pot and add the other ingredients. Cook for 5-10 minutes. Add 100ml of milk. Mix everything together.
  6. Dish out and enjoy.
