Kozhukkatta is a South Indian dumpling made from rice flour, with a filling of sugar and desiccated coconut. The filling is usually sweet but you can also try a savoury filling. The method of cooking is steaming. This is an example of a savoury type of kozhukkatta made from shark fish and coconut (both healthy food that nourishes you).

Ingredients – shark fish, onion, garlic, desiccated coconut, rice flour, butter or oil.

Method:
1. Cut the fish into small pieces, then cut the onions and garlic.
2. Pour oil into a pan, cook the onion and garlic for a few seconds, then add the shark fish.
(You can cook any way you want the fish) I added turmeric powder,
chilli powder and coriander leaves.
3. Once cooked, leave it for some time to cool.
4. Add the flour to a big bowl, then pour a little bit of hot water and knead the dough.
5. You may need to add butter or oil when you spread the dough so it doesn’t stick.
6. Put the filling into a small piece of dough and fold the edges.
7. Steam the dumplings for 10 minutes then turn and steam for another 5 minutes.
8. Serve and enjoy. You may want to eat it with a dip of your choice but it goes well just like that.
