YAM AND SWEET POTATO PORRIDGE

Yam and sweet potato are a type of tuber plants. It is high in dietary fibre, potassium, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, magnesium and manganese. Both are packed with health benefits such as anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidant properties, preventing cancer, protection of the heart, reduces cholesterol and sugar levels and promotes gut health. This is a simple yam and sweet potato porridge recipe.

Ingredients – yam, sweet potato, sago (a starch extracted from the pith, or spongy core tissue, of various tropical palm stems), pandan leaves and coconut milk

Method:
1. Chop the yam and sweet potato into small cubes and boil them.  
2. Add the sago when the yam and sweet potato are boiling.
3. Once cooked, add the pandan leaves.
4. Then, add the coconut milk and mix well.
5. Serve and enjoy.

 
P.S. The main ingredients are yam and sweet potato, you can add the same ingredients to make this porridge or change it according to what you like. You could also add sugar if you like and change to a different type of milk. However, the sago gives thickness to the porridge.
